Facebook Revamps Homepage, News Feed
Facebook on Friday again revamped its homepage, getting rid of its "Highlights" section and instead creating separate tabs for the news feed and real-time events.
When users sign into their accounts, they can select to view either the "News feed" tab or the "Live Feed" tab. The news feed will feature items Facebook believes are of most value to you, while the live feed will list everything that is going on with your friends.

Canadian Astronaut Says it Appears Earth's Ice Caps Have Melted
A Canadian astronaut on a six-month stay aboard the International Space Station says it looks like Earth's ice caps have melted a bit since he was last in orbit 12 years ago, Reuters has reported.

Google Announces Plans for PC Operating System
Google announced plans late Tuesday night to develop operating software for personal computers, initially the downsized PCs called Netbooks. An outgrowth of the Internet search giant’s Chrome Web browser, Chrome OS is also Google’s most direct challenge yet to Microsoft, whose Windows operating system dominates the PC world. Chrome OS is expected to be available in the second half of next year.

Hybrids boost Toyota and Honda car sales
Toyota Motor Corp's Prius hybrid was Japan's best-selling car in June while Honda Motor Co's rival Insight ranked fourth, helping the two hybrid leaders dominate the list of top-selling models.
Sales of the Prius, which was remodeled in mid-May, jumped 258 percent to 22,292 units from the year-earlier month, data from the Japan Automobile Dealers Association showed.

Nokia denies plans phone running Google's Android
The world's top cellphone maker Nokia (NOK1V.HE) said on Monday it was not working on introducing a phone running on Google's (GOOG.O) Android operating system.
British daily The Guardian said on Monday the Finnish mobile phone maker was understood by industry insiders to be developing a smartphone that runs on Google's Android software, to be introduced in September.
"Absolutely no truth to this whatsoever," said a Nokia spokesman.

Sony Takes First Step Into the Netbook Market
Sony will begin selling its first netbook computer next month and in doing so enter the only sector of the PC market showing significant growth.
The Vaio W is based around a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 processor, the same processor used in many other netbooks.
Like other netbooks the Vaio W has a 10-inch screen, but its display has a resolution of 1,366 by 768 pixels rather than the more common 1,024 by 600 pixels.

The company today introduced the HP Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web, the first all-in-one printer to access Internet information. Apple says iPhone 3G S pre-orders will be filled on time
Despite warnings from AT&T that claimed high demand for the new iPhone 3G S would prevent it from shipping pre-orders by the June 19 launch date, Apple is still promising to satisfy all web pre-orders with a Friday delivery.
The Boy Genius Report cited internal sources at AT&T as saying that customers who had not ordered the new phone by June 15 would have to wait one to two weeks after the launch to receive their order or stand in line to buy one.
